Hooboy this was a thing
The assignment was to make a map using dip pen and ink (and possibly tea/coffee) inspired by 17th/18th century sea charts based on your personal life, basically. Could be about a specific aspect of your life, could be more global, but it had to hold meaning somehow.

I loved this assignment. Still do. My 'Progress Isles', translated into German because as we stand Germany is one of my main fascinations and the first language I'd like to learn in the near future.
I created three clusters of islands modeled after stages in a certain animal's life to signify aspects of my past (Originem), present (Heden) and future (Zukunft). Each shows things that either had a great impact on me, things that greatly influence me now and things I am working towards/hope will come to pass eventually.

I won't go into great detail here, but this map was a joy to work on. Very therapeutic and probably one of my proudest creations in my first year of artschool. The teachers were very impressed which made me very happy : p
